CELEBRATE CINCO DE MAYO AT THE DIAMOND CENTER WITH LA ORIGINAL BANDA EL LIMON
La Original Banda El Limon de Salvador Lizarraga was founded on January 15, 1965, in the town of El Limon de los Peraza, Sinaloa, Mexico. In the more than 50 years since then, it has been a driving force in the powerful banda genre of Mexican music.
Led by Don Salvador Lizarraga Sanchez, the 17 member group has maintained the traditional sound of the older bands but has adapted over the years to include a sound system and add a singer. This step was very important since La Original Banda El Limon de Salvador Lizarraga has served as practically the school for great singers like Julio Preciado, Jose Angel Ledesma “El Coyote”, Jorge Cordero, Nico Flores, Luis Antonio Lopez “El Mimoso” and Alejandro Ojeda.
Currently, the lead singers of La Original Banda El Limon are Luis Antonio Lizarraga and Lorenzo Mendez. In its more than fifty year history, the band has had innumerable hits in Mexico and the U.S., including chart-toppers “Se Me Hizo Vicio,” “Que Me Digan Loco,” and “Al Menos,” The group’s awards and honors include a Latin Grammy win in 2010 for best banda album with “Soy Tu Maestro,” their 27th album. La Original Banda El Limon de Salvador Lizarraga continues to maintain a busy touring schedule throughout Mexico and the United States.
